It is very important for drivers to be aware of their environment when making a turn at an intersection. This includes paying close attention to any signs or markers that are present which indicate what turns a person can or cannot make at the intersection in question, such as one-way signs. Failure by a driver to do this can sometimes lead to a driver going the wrong way down a one-way street. This is obviously a very dangerous thing. It can result in a wide variety of different harmful incidents occurring, including pedestrian accidents.
A pedestrian accident recently occurred in Jersey City in which wrong-way driving has been alleged.
On the night of Dec. 5, a 76-year-old man was driving a car in the downtown area. Purportedly, the man ended up going the wrong way along a one-way street due to a turn he had made. The man's car then struck an 83-year-old pedestrian who was crossing this street.
The pedestrian was seriously injured in this accident and was brought to a hospital after it happened.
In relation to the crash, summons for going the wrong way on a one-way street and careless driving have been issued to the 76-year-old man.
Pedestrian accidents can be caused by many different things. A pedestrian who has been hurt in a traffic accident may have many questions regarding how the specific details of their accident affect their ability to pursue relief. Experienced personal injury attorneys can help answer these questions and can help a pedestrian accident victim figure out what to do following their accident.
