Emergency worker killed in accident with driver in East Brunswick

When you have an accident, you know to call emergency services for help. When you do that, ambulances with emergency medical technicians will come to you, whether you're suffering from a health issue at home or in a car accident in the city.

When these EMTs are driving to you, lights and sirens let others know they're on their way. When drivers hear these sirens or see the lights flashing, they should pull over and get out of the way to abide by the laws for emergency vehicles. If they don't or they continue on, an accident like this one could happen. In the tragic accident in New Jersey, a young woman lost her life after the vehicle she was in was struck and forced onto its side.

The July 27 story out of East Brunswick reports that a New Jersey EMT lost her life after a collision in an intersection, and now her family and friends have started to prepare for her funeral. The news reported that the 22-year-old woman and the driver of the ambulance were on the way to assist at a car accident that had taken place in East Brunswick.

With its lights and sirens on, the ambulance approached an intersection. It was then that the ambulance was struck by a 58-year-old woman's vehicle. The collision resulted in the ambulance flipping onto its side, forcing it to slide through the intersection and into another vehicle.

While the driver and the 58-year-old woman both survived the crash and were treated at local hospitals, the 22-year-old woman's family is now planning her funeral. Holding the victim's family responsible for her death is one way the family can deal with the financial losses as well as hopefully find some emotional healing.
