Fiery car accident leaves a Jersey City man dead

When car accidents happen on a holiday like Independence Day, the cause is often easy to identify. For example, drunken driving is typically a big problem during the holidays. However, there are times when a car accident happens and its cause is not immediately apparent. A fatal car accident that occurred in Rockaway Township on the Fourth of July is a tragic example of an accident with no immediately identified cause.

According to state troopers, the car accident occurred around noon and took the life of one victim, a 49-year-old man from Jersey City. Not many details have been made available but troopers have confirmed that two cars were involved and both of them were on fire. The victim was on his way to Budd Lake to visit his sister and his four nephews when the accident occurred.

Witnesses reported huge plumes of black smoke at the accident scene as well as the sound of tires exploding and extreme heat. The authorities closed two lanes of traffic on I-80 where the accident happened for two hours following the collision.

For the victim of this accident, it is too late for safety warnings about holiday traffic. Now, his family is left grieving and waiting for the answers to their questions about how and why the car accident occurred. If it is found that the crash happened because of the other motorist's reckless or negligent behavior, the victim's family may be able to hold the responsible party to account. For this to happen, they will need to decide whether or not take action against the at-fault party.
