Lawsuit brought in connection to stairway collapse at motel

When a person stays at a motel or hotel, they expect the premises of the motel/hotel to be safe. When a motel, hotel or other lodging business fails to keep it premises safe, it can result in patrons suffering accidents. Accidents at motels, hotels or other lodging facilities can cause patrons to get seriously hurt.

A premises liability case has recently arisen involving a motel. The motel in question is in Richmond, Kentucky. A woman has alleged that the motel failed to keep an exterior stairway on its premises in a safe condition and that this alleged negligence led to a harmful accident occurring.

The accident happened on April 23. Reportedly, that day, the woman and another individual were on the above-mentioned stairway. Allegedly, the stairway then collapsed.

The woman claims that she suffered leg and spinal injuries as a result of the stairway collapse.

A lawsuit has been brought against the motel by the woman in a court in Kentucky in connection to these allegations. The woman is asking for damages in this lawsuit. One wonders what will happen in this premises liability case and how it will ultimately be resolved.

As the allegations in this case illustrate, premises-related negligence by lodging businesses (such as motels) can be very harmful. No patron of a lodging facility should have to suffer injuries because the facility acted negligently in regards to its premises. Thus, one hopes that all lodging businesses take all proper steps to keep their premises safe for patrons.
