Fatal pedestrian accident occurs in New Jersey

There are many different yielding rules that are in place here in New Jersey. Some of these rules involve when to yield to pedestrians. It is very important for motorists to follow all rules regarding yielding to pedestrians. Such rules are in place to protect pedestrians; when motor vehicle drivers do not obey them, it can result in pedestrians getting struck. Being hit by a motor vehicle can sometimes be fatal to a pedestrian.

Recently, a fatal pedestrian accident happened in New Jersey that authorities allege involved a failure to yield.

According to authorities, on Thursday morning, a pedestrian was performing a crossing at an intersection in Metuchen. The intersection in question was the intersection of Christol Street and Grove Avenue. Authorities say that, during this crossing, a motor vehicle didn't stop for the pedestrian and hit the pedestrian.

Authorities have accused the driver of this vehicle of driving carelessly and failing to yield to a pedestrian in relation to the crash. Charges have been brought against this driver.

According to the article on which reported this story, the pedestrian who was hit, a 75-year-old man from Metuchen, was pronounced dead after being brought to a hospital.

Sometimes, following a fatal pedestrian accident, the family of the victim of the accident will pursue a wrongful death claim. Whether any violations of yielding rules occurred in connection to a given pedestrian accident is one of the details it can be very important to carefully investigate in relation to such claims.
