New Jersey car accident kills one councilman on New Year's Eve

Car accidents typically cause emotional and physical pain, along with financial burdens that can often last a lifetime. The holiday traffic in New Jersey can pose a great threat to drivers between the travel to visit with family and friends, holiday shopping and the regular commute to work. A car accident during the holiday season is the last thing anyone expects to deal with during the hustle and bustle. This busy time on the roadways compels police officers to warn drivers to slow down and pay attention to driving in an attempt to reduce the risk for accidents.

In spite of the many efforts made by officials to crack down on accidents during the holidays, collisions still occur. A New Jersey councilman was involved in a collision on New Years Eve that cost him his life. Police are investigating the accident and the cause is still unknown. Along with the police, the local community is struggling to pick up the pieces after the loss of the councilman.

According to reports, the councilman's vehicle crossed over the roadway into oncoming traffic. His car struck another vehicle; the driver sustained moderate injuries. The councilman was driving home from a ceremony for which he was being sworn into office for a second term.

Traffic accidents are responsible for the highest volume of deaths every year, and authorities continue to increase safety measures for all New Jersey drivers in 2014. Car accidents leave victims and loved ones with many questions, and in the event that fatalities occur, the heartbroken loved ones are left to pick up the pieces. No matter the type of the car accident, the victims and loved ones may be entitled to seek compensation for pain and suffering endured as a result of the collision from the driver or deceased driver's estate who is found to be liable for the crash.
