Hit-and-run in New Jersey leaves man injured in roadway

A personal injury can leave you badly injured in a hospital, with broken bones that make it hard to work, or even with a concussion that impacts your life in the long term. When you suffer a personal injury due to a pedestrian accident in New Jersey, you should be aware that you have a right to seek compensation and justice for the incident. If negligence played a roll in the accident that injured you, the driver may end up charged with a number of crimes.

Pedestrian accidents often seriously injure or kill pedestrians due to the lack of protection they have against the vehicle's weight and speed. In an April 8 report, a man from Rahway has been reported as being in critical condition following a pedestrian accident. The 22-year-old man was struck by an SUV as he attempted to cross the street at the intersection of West Scott Avenue and St. Georges Avenue.

The driver of the 2005 Honda CR-V left the scene after she struck the man, but she was later discovered to be a 64-year-old woman when she called the Linden police about the accident. The Linden police alerted the police in Rahway to the location of the driver involved. Right now, no charges have been placed, but the investigation is ongoing.

In the preliminary investigation, police discovered that the 22-year-old man was crossing the road at the intersection when the Honda, which was traveling north, struck him. He was left with injuries to his head, chest, and pelvic area. He also suffered injuries to his legs and had internal injuries from the impact. He was first treated at the scene, but he was then transferred to University Hospital in Newark.
