Are there any things I shouldn't do after a crash?

After a motorcycle accident, there are several things that you should or should not do. For instance, did you know that even if you're not at fault, saying that you're sorry for the accident can implicate that you were the one who caused the crash? Never admit fault at the scene, and avoid saying anything that would imply that you believe that you might be responsible for the accident.

Another thing that you should remember is that you should always go to the doctor after an accident. If an ambulance is at the scene, allow the emergency team to take you to the hospital. It's better to get checked and to find out that there's nothing wrong than to wait and find out that there is after you said that there wasn't. Stating that you are fine at the scene can end up making it more difficult for you to obtain compensation from a settlement later, since the insurance company might argue that your injuries were caused in a different situation.

After your crash, you might think that it's important to call your insurance company as soon as possible, but in reality, there are many other things that you should do first. If you're injured, go to the hospital. If you feel that there might be some concerns that you have that you need legal advice on, talk to your attorney.

Once you are in a position where you are healthy enough to take the time to call your insurance and have some information from the police report to talk with your agent about, that's when you should reach out. If a settlement is offered early on, consider waiting and talking to your attorney about the potential for a larger settlement or settlement negotiations.
