2 injured in devastating motorcycle accident

Riding a motorcycle can be a thrilling event, and you may enjoy heading out during brisk days in New Jersey. You know that no matter how careful you are, though, people do make mistakes and may put your life at risk. If a driver doesn't see you coming and hits you, that person is responsible for the damage he or she causes, even if it was accidental.

A March 30 report discussed a recent collision in Galloway that left two motorcyclists seriously injured. According to the news, the crash happened at around 12:15 p.m. A 37-year-old driver had been heading east on Route 30, and the motorcyclist and his passenger, 28 and 34, respectively, were traveling west. The 37-year-old driver turned left to exit the highway and turn onto Cologne Avenue. In doing so, he cut off the motorcyclist's path and caused an accident.

The two motorcyclists were thrown. Fortunately, both had been wearing helmets, but neither met the state's standards, according to the police. They were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus for serious injuries.

Typically, left-turn crashes can be avoided. If a driver miscalculates how fast a motorcyclist is traveling or fails to see the rider, then there is a potential for a serious collision. Whenever a vehicle passes into the path of another in that way, it causes a head-on collision, which is often fatal or causes severe injuries to those involved. If this happens to you, you have a right to seek out the compensation you'll need as you go through your time in recovery.
