2 victims die in hit-and-run accident

When you're involved in a car accident, the decent thing to do, and the legal requirement, is to stay at the scene. You need to stay at the scene and assist anyone who is injured if possible. You should exchange information and await police and emergency services.

When a person doesn't stay at the scene, that person can be accused of a hit-and-run and charged. Hit-and-run accidents put lives in danger. If no one else saw that accident, there's a chance that the victims may not receive the help they need.

In a recent accident reported by the news on April 3, two pedestrians were struck by a driver in New Jersey. The crash happened at around 8:00 p.m., near Paterson Plank Road and Kennedy Boulevard. The two victims were crossing the street together when a speeding vehicle lost control and sped through a parking lot. The vehicle struck the pair before swerving back into traffic and fleeing the scene.

A witness reported having to swerve to avoid the vehicle. Then, he noticed that there were two people hit. The victims, aged 57 and 80, passed away shortly after the crash. Police did locate the hit-and-run driver. He, a 38-year-old corrections officer, was found several hours later at around 4:00 a.m.

In cases like this, time is of the essence. If your loved one was involved in a hit-and-run crash and died because no one called for help or because the driver did not stay at the scene, you have every right to want justice. Your attorney can help you move forward with your case.
