Your injury symptoms may be delayed after a crash

After you're in a car accident, there are many injuries that you could suffer from that do not appear immediately. These delayed injuries could make you feel you can go without medical care when you really did need to go to the hospital.

Delayed injuries are why some people who are involved in crashes don't seek care right away but decide to days later. Some are minor, but others can be potentially life-threatening.

For example, if you develop a headache a day or two following an accident, you could be suffering from the after-effects of a concussion or from a blood clot on the brain. Both can affect your life and need immediate medical help.

Back pain is another injury symptom that could occur long after an accident. Back pain can mean that muscles, tendons, ligaments or joints have been injured, and it's important to seek out medical attention to get a diagnosis.

If you develop numbness after an accident, it could be a sign of whiplash. This is especially true if you develop a headache or other symptoms as a result of a crash in combination with numbness. You may suspect whiplash if you suffer numbness in your hands or arms.

Another illness that can appear later on is post-traumatic stress disorder. This is common after a traumatic event and can cause victims to suffer from nightmares and disturbing memories. This could require psychological assistance and medical care.

Your attorney can help you if you delay seeking treatment after a crash. It's important to get the medical care you need and the compensation you deserve.
