Unanswered questions surrounding New Jersey motorcycle accident

Unfortunately, answers regarding the cause and the blame for a motorcycle accident are not immediately available. In many cases, those that were involved in an accident between a motorcycle and another vehicle have their own ideas about what caused the crash. Still, injured parties on both sides of the coin must wait for definitive and official answers.

A recent motorcycle accident in a New Jersey township is an example of this situation. The motorcycle accident is still under investigation and no news reports indicate which party is responsible for the crash. At just after 9 p.m. last Wednesday evening, a car carrying its driver and two passengers attempted to make a left hand turn. A motorcycle struck the vehicle on the passenger side of the car during the attempted turn, resulting in injuries to all four parties, one a 6-year-old boy.

Fortunately, the motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet approved by the DOT (Department of Transportation) and suffered "serious but non-life threatening injuries". The boy also suffered "serious but non-life threatening injuries." The car's driver and the second passenger were injured as well. All three occupants of the motor vehicle were wearing safety belts at the time of the car-motorcycle accident.

Perhaps the most important unanswered question in this case is why the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the car while it was turning. Did the car pull out in front of the motorcycle or did the motorcyclist fail to stop or slow when he should have? Was drunk driving or biking a factor? Regardless of the eventual answers, victims in cases like this would do well to seek out legal counsel while they wait for official word on who is liable for the motorcycle accident.
