Two teenagers killed in pedestrian accident

These days, just going out for a stroll can be a dangerous activity. The chances of accidents occurring increase drastically as roads become more crowded and congested in the state of New Jersey. The constant flow of traffic on today's roadways can present dangers to both pedestrians and drivers. With vehicles and pedestrians in such close proximity, accidents are almost inevitable. Recently, a pedestrian accident in Jersey City left two teenage boys dead and a community in mourning.

The accident occurred during the afternoon hours near a dangerous intersection. According to reports, two teenage boys were riding a bicycle along the side of the road. Allegedly, as they approached an off ramp, they were violently stuck by a car.

Reports say that both of the teenagers were very badly injured. Tragically, one of the boys died at the scene while the other was transported to a local hospital where he died the next day. Police say the driver of the vehicle that struck them fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle a couple of blocks away. According to police, the driver turned himself in two days later and was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a deadly crash.

Laws exist in New Jersey and across the United States to protect pedestrians. However, despite these laws, thousands of pedestrians are killed or injured every year across the country. Anytime a New Jersey resident suffers the loss of a loved one due to an act of negligence in a pedestrian accident, he or she has a right to pursue damages. A successfully litigated lawsuit could result in compensation that can be used to cover medical bills, end-of-life expenses and other applicable monetary damages.
